The Salters' Spanish Assault: Day One
Our picnic was 'bocadillos' (sandwiches), 30cm baguettes of delight. The hill, La Mola, was just outside Terrassa and gave us a spectacular view in every direction, which put things in perspective.
At the top was a 9th Century monastery, which is now a restaurant. We enjoyed a refreshing drink there while we caught our breath, before staggering down again. But at least I don't work there, as the only way up is on foot and all the supplies are brought up by donkey!
We were beginning to feel the effects of our long couple of days but went happily off to Claire's advanced English class where we tried to share our good ol' Aussie accents. Not sure that we made a lot of sense as the need for a nap was becoming overpowering. They were a delightful group of enthusiastic and interested young people and I can understand why Claire has enjoyed working with them so much.
Then Marc took us home to bed... yay Marc! The sleep was delicious and our bed was very comfy, but Claire and Marc had to sleep on the floor.
