The Trip 2008-2009: Khajuraho

This was one of my favourite places. Although it was a hell of a journey to get there, we made it in one piece, travelling on the train with some people from Pamplona in Spain. It seems that a lot of Spanish people go to this particular place because a number of the locals spoke quite good Spanish, which meant we couldn't really discuss our plan of attack without them understanding... damn!!

Khajuraho is a little place littered with temples engraved with erotic images. We hired bicycles which was great because it meant that nobody could hassle us about getting a lift with them and didn't have to rely on anyone or haggle.... aaaaahhhh. Plus there was a superb restaurant that we ate at the whole time.

We stayed at an ashram a little out of town and did a yoga session each morning... we also befriended a couple of Portuguese guys, Marco and... I forget the other guy's name... we rode around town with them and were with them when we got scammed by a bunch of kids asking us to donate to their 'school'. What a shame, but it was a pretty good wind up I'm the first to admit. I was properly had!!

We did actually also go to a real school, established by the yogi of the ashram. The kids were very cute and thought it was totally exciting going through the contents of my shoulder bag! They still think Mp3 players are cool so I didn't feel bad that I didn't have an iPod.
