The Trip 2008-2009: one day Vipassana course

Most of you will have some idea that Marc and I do a bit of meditation. The meditation we practice is called Vipassana as taught by SN Goenka, a man from Burma.

The one day course we attended was a very special event. Not only was it in the new Global Pagoda, designed to fit 8000 meditators, but also SN Goenka himself was present.

He is very frail and many believe this would be his last public appearance so it was very humbling to be there. We packed the room as you can see and there were people out the door.

It was all a little disconcerting with all that we are taught when people were getting up to take photos and following him out. One of the main things he teaches is that worship is silly and useless... and gosh the Indians love a chat! They don't seem to get the silent bit of "noble silence".

All that aside it was very special. We went with a fellow couchsurfer Pavin, who we also stayed with for a couple of nights (his wife Rupa too). They were great, so funny and big lovers of food too!!!

That was our last day of India, what a finale!! Then it was onto Barcelona!
